District Grand Library
District Grand Lodge recognizes that continuing development of Freemasonry in Jamaica rests on the development of the individual. As a result, District Grand Lodge encourages brethren to make daily advancement through reading and researching. It is with this in mind that the District established a library at Freemasons Building, 11 - 15 McGregor Square, Kingston 5, Jamaica.
The library is opened on Saturdays (with the exception of Public Holidays) from 10.00am to 12.00 noon. This is done to accommodate brethren who may want to do some reading or research, in order to gain additional knowledge.
Our experience is that brethren are not visiting or utilizing the library as was first thought. The preponderance of sites on the Internet makes it less likely for younger brethren especially to want to visit the library. As a result, we intend to list the titles of books that are now in the library so as to whet your appetite and that you may even become interested in the books that are there.
This is the first installment of the list of books in the library. We will continue to update the list and to advise you when the list is exhausted.
District Grand Librarian
Role of the Librarian
To coordinate the activities of the District Grand Library. This includes collection and dissemination of books and papers from the library in an orderly fashion. Currently a process of cataloging of the books and papers is being done. As the library is in a renewal mode, the DG Librarian also coordinates donations and requests.
District Grand Lecturer
Role of the Lecturer
Along with the two Assistant District Grand Lecturers, the District Grand Lecturer coordinates lecture from the District level. All papers delivered in Lodges are reviewed by the lecturers, prior to being plaved in the District Grand Library. Directly under his pervue is the annual seminar and the several workshops done by the District.
